In response to the growing impacts of climate change, women from indigenous communities in Northern Kenya are exploring alternative livelihoods to overcome challenges like poverty, land tenure insecurity, and food scarcity. At the ninth Annual National Indigenous Women Conference, these women, hailing from pastoralist regions such as Samburu, Marsabit, and Wajir, highlighted the need for adaptive strategies like drought-resilient livestock, drylands restoration, and sustainable water harvesting methods. Their goal: to build climate-resilient communities while preserving traditional knowledge.
