Day 1 of the CivFund Compliance Training Series brought partners into a two-hour session that felt less like a donor requirement and more like an organisational reset. Hosted by Lillian Tamale and facilitated by the TASLAF Legal Team, the message was clear: compliance isn’t punishment, it’s protection, governance, and stewardship. Partners were guided through the essentials of legal and regulatory compliance for CSOs in Uganda, from registration and governing documents to functional boards, proper documentation, reporting, and internal HR/finance systems that keep organisations credible and audit-ready. With practical Q&A (especially on board roles and terms), the session reinforced a simple truth: if order can’t be shown in writing, the mission becomes vulnerable in practice. Read more
