When Women Hold the Land, the Story of the Household Changes

In Gulu, GWED-G is demonstrating that women’s land rights are not abstract ideals but practical drivers of livelihood, dignity, and community transformation. By strengthening women’s access to and ownership of land while linking it to productive use through seed banks, organic farming, and market engagement, the project is reshaping how households produce, earn, and plan for the future. Beyond the numbers, a deeper shift is taking place as women move from negotiating space to holding recognized authority, proving that when women control land, the impact extends far beyond the soil into stronger, more resilient communities.
